Spanish midfielder Denis Suarez has reportedly given the go-ahead to join Arsenal from Barcelona this month after holding talks with Gunners boss Unai Emery.
The 24-year-old has endured a tough campaign with the Blaugrana where he has managed under 20 minutes of league action and he appears keen on pursuing a fresh challenge within the current transfer window.
Amidst this, the Gunners have been frequently tipped to acquire his signature and Sport claims that the midfielder has said yes to the move to the Emirates Stadium.
It is added that the north London club now have to reach a deal with the Catalan giants and based on that, the deal may or may not go through in the forthcoming days.
Suarez has previously worked under Emery during his loan spell with Sevilla more than two years ago and their close relationship is supposedly proving to the catalyst towards the proposed deal.
However, the Gunners would still want to secure the move at the earliest possibility, given the club’s main priority remains on the defence which has looked vulnerable for yet another term.
Summer signings Sokratis and Stephan Lichtsteiner have not quite stabilised the backline while they have been fitness concerns with Shkodran Mustafi, Laurent Koscielny and Nacho Monreal.
Meanwhile, the potential arrival of Suarez should further enhance Ramsey’s departure from the Emirates with his existing deal due to expire at the end of the season.
Suarez offers similar characteristics to Ramsey with his ability to play in either central midfield or further forward in the wings and the Spaniard’s arrival should spell the end of the midfielder’s decade-long stay in north London.
