Reiss Nelson is one of the brightest prospects to have come out of the Arsenal academy and it is clear to see why everyone is so excited about him.
He was expected to make a mark on the first team this season but in a surprise move, was sent on loan to German club Hoffenheim.
Having made a good start to his career in Germany, Nelson has hinted that he could be making a return soon.
This is what the winger said to talkSPORT(via Metro):
“Arsenal is my boyhood club, they’re a big part of my life. I’m just here to play my football in Germany.
Hopefully, I’ll come back in a couple of months – if it’s a year so be it – ready to play in Arsenal’s first team.”
This does sound like an indication that he could be set to return to the club sooner rather than later. It is great that Nelson is getting exposure in another league at such a young age. The style of football in Germany is different from what is being played at in the Premier League.
Getting a taste of the Bundesliga, will surely be beneficial to Nelson when he does come back to the Gunners. And truth be told, Arsenal are in need of a player like him.
The club does not really have an out and out winger which made the move of Nelson that much stranger. But, it seems that the board and Unai Emery have a plan for him so we will have to wait and see what happens.
Given the number of competitions that the Gunners are in, they will need as many players as possible if they are to challenge in any way.
Arsenal are in a strong position at the moment with a nine match winning streak with them at the moment. Getting a player like Nelson back into the fold, will be a big boost to the club. And the winger will surely be a better player than what he was a few months ago.
