If I was Danny Welbeck, I will be critically considering leaving Arsenal this summer. The former Manchester United star needs a new start elsewhere and in my opinion, he should be considering leaving the club for a mid-table team where he will play week in week out.
Having signed Aubameyang last winner, Welbeck’s chance for regular playing time is further reduced. And according to reports, Arsenal may be signing another striker this summer which could further reduce the Englishman’s already limited game time.
According to a report from Italy(as re-reported by Mirror) long term Arsenal target M’Baye Niang who currently plays for Torino in Italy has caught the eye of Arsenal’s scouts who are convincing Unai Emery to make a move for the former AC Milan striker.
Watford is also said to be interested in the player but if the report of Arsenal’s interest is true, the Gunners will have a better chance of signing the Senegalese than the Hornets.
M’Baye Niang was a key player for Senegal at the world cup. He scored one goal and assisted one other goal in the three matches he played. He has also been linked with Monaco, Marseille and Nice but none of these sides are more attractive than Arsenal. If truly Arsenal are interested and are ready to pay what Torino wants, they are surely going to sign him but do they really need him?
Is he even an upgrade on Welbeck? If you ask me, I will say he is not an upgrade on Welbeck and Arsenal should instead give Nketiah a chance with the first team if they are not ready to spend big on a striker. I don’t know what the scouts have seen in the Senegalese but I have watched him with Milan, Senegal and in some Torino games he is to me not a player of Arsenal’s quality.
This doesn’t mean Welbeck should be retained, the Englishman should be sold but an upgrade on him should be brought him or Arsenal should stick with Eddie Nketiah. M’Baye Niang will cost at least £15 million which to me will be a waste as M’Baye Niang is in my opinion just more experienced than Nketiah, not necessarily better than him.
If I was Emery, I will be aiming to get rid of Welbeck, Perez, Chuba, Elneny with the aim of raising money to sign a proper left winger. And retain Nketiah in the team for the cup games or send him on loan to an EPL club.
