Under new boss Unai Emery, Arsenal are already looking to trigger the £22m release clause of Sampdoria midfielder Dennis Praet.
A player who likes to get forward and dribble but also proves himself as a capable defensive asset regularly, the midfielder has been impressive for the mid-table side this season gathering interest from huge rival clubs like Inter Milan, Roma and Napoli.
Praet may have given Sampdoria fans a hint that he had played his last match for Sampdoria this season with a message to supporters on Instagram earlier this week reading: ‘I want to thank all the fans for the amazing support this year’. He posted this amid the growing speculation surrounding his future.
The Belgian International is thought to be closing in on Juventus move but Arsenal have now started negotiations. The report in Gianluca Di Marzio claims that the Gunners have held ‘concrete’ talks with the Player’s agent and the North London club are ready to trigger the €25m release clause.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang recently said the club was “Stagnant” but with Emery taking over everyone is “excited”.
With massive defensive problems at Arsenal, conceding a huge 51 goals last season and Laurent Koscielny being ruled out for a large chunk of next season, many fans believe before anything else the new manager should be signing a defender.
The young Belgian midfielder plays occasionally as an attacking midfielder but more often than not occupies the central midfield role for Sampdoria.
With Arsenal also reportedly in talks with PSG’s Marco Verrati and several more defensive options like Sokratis and Caglar Soyuncu, it is not clear the direction that Unai Emery wants to take the North London club in this transfer window.
Overall this transfer may not be all that Arsenal need but the player looks to be a bargain at £22m and would be a great young addition to the team.
