Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere was in good spirits following the Premier League win over Southampton on Sunday afternoon. Arsene Wenger changed more than half of his side for the Saints match, and this saw a lack of cohesion in the game play.
Shane Long opened the scoring for the Saints after a moment of indecision involving Shkodran Mustafi, but Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Welbeck managed to put the Gunners ahead 2-1 at the interval.
Following the break, the game was equally paced for both teams, and Southampton’s Charlie Austin pulled the scores level right after being brought onto the field.
At 2-2, Wilshere appeared to have provided a match-winning assist for Welbeck, but the Englishman rather fluffed his lines with probably one of the misses of the season.
Thankfully, Welbeck managed to make amends with his second goal of the day which turned out as the winner, and Wilshere was quick to remind his compatriot of the wonderful assist he could have had.

Wilshere did not have the best of cameos from the bench on Sunday, and he happened to miss a number of challenges, whilst also picking up a yellow card for a pull on Jack Stephens right at the end.
Both Wilshere and Welbeck are likely to feature from the off during the Europa League quarter-final second-leg versus CSKA Moscow, and the latter may replace Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who has been sidelined with a knee issue.
Welbeck’s form has been patchy with a number of injury concerns over the years, and the Gunners faithful will hope that he can continue his recent good form whilst improving on his finishing which often tends to let him down.
