The transfer of Hector Bellerin has been the subject of conversation for the past 2 or 3 seasons but amid frantic speculation, the player pledged his commitment to the club and its manager Arsene Wenger.
It now seems highly likely that the Spaniard will leave this summer as he has become frustrated with the Gunners inability to compete at the highest level, , as per sources close to the North London club.
He was hoping that the club would be able to put to an end its failures but it’s said that he has now come to terms with the fact that to realise his ambitions, he will have to move elsewhere, with a move to Spain as his preferred option.
For such a young player this would make perfect sense and from Arsenal’s point of view, it would present them with a large financial injection of cash. Bellerin is still regarded as an exciting and valuable asset and a host of clubs would be prepared to meet the valuation of between £40-£65 million.
When you think that Kyle Walker went to City for the not so insignificant sum of £53 million, Bellerin (22) would be seen as a bargain at that price. With the clubs reconstruction underway and more departures likely in the summer, Bellerin’s transfer would lay down a marker as to how big the scale of the rebuilding project is.
The player is ideal for either of the top two sides in Spain with his blistering pace in attack and ability to provide assists but it became noticeable this year, that the player is often caught out of position and is not quite aware of the incoming threat posed by the opposition.
His saving grace has been that he can outrun a jet plane on half a tank of fuel and cover 100 meters like Usain Bolt late for a dental appointment. It’s thought that Wenger has rebuffed a recent enquiry for the player because it could destabilise the squad even further.
Bellerin’s reasons for leaving would be totally understandable but the commitment he has shown has been admirable compared to a certain striker who made his way to the North of England. His potential is unfulfilled and for him to further, he has no option but to move on and perform on a much bigger stage.
Arsenal can not provide this and their failure last season and probably this, to compete in the Champions league have made the youngsters realise that he needs to make a change. It’s said that he has spoken to the manager and that if he still feels the same at the end of the season, Wenger will reluctantly agree to allow him to leave.
It’s yet another case of an Arsenal player leaving to find the success they crave and can’t find with the North London outfit. It’s hardly a shock but Arsenal will expect suitors to meet the highest valuation to get their man.
