Arsenals overcame Chelsea 2-1 at the Emirates as they stormed into Carabao Cup’s final where they will face off against Manchester City in a month’s time.
The Blues took an early lead through Eden Hazard but the game ended in Arsenal’s favour as Arsene Wenger’s side impressed with an inspiring second half.
The North London club were exciting to watch as the trio of Mesut Ozil, Alexandre Lacazette and Alex Iwobi led the lines in aplomb against their London rivals after the first leg ended in a draw at Stamford Bridge.
We now take a look at the (3) three significant features from the game.
Arsenal down Chelsea
The London rivals squared up at the Emirates as goals from Antonio Rudiger (own goal) and Granit Xhaka gave Arsenal a 2-1 win in the match.
Jack Wilshere and Granit Xhaka(goal scorer) did a great job in silencing Chelsea. The English midfielder was impressive throughout the game and once again proved his big match credentials.
The North London club struggled a bit in the first half and were lucky to go in level. However, whatever Wenger’s speech was during the break, the players came out aggressive and deserved to be in the final.
Hope for Arsenal
Arsenal have been struggling in big games this season, especially in the Premier League as the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City have come away with a victory over the Gunners this season.
Manchester United comfortably overcame the North London club with a 3-1 win and coupled with the 4-2 defeat against lower league side Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup early in the year, it looked the Gunners were in for another meltdown.
However, with the impressive performance over Chelsea and Antonio Conte, the Emirates club have a reason to smile and with this victory, it will offer Wenger’s side some hope for the rest of the season.
Arsenal Better Without Sanchez
Manchester United might have snatched Sanchez but Arsenal have no course for concern as the likes of Jack Wilshere and Mesut Ozil responded to the challenge against a tough side like Chelsea.
Arsenal showed their immense quality and this might have given the watching world a tip of the iceberg of what to expect from them, in the long run, as Arsenal showed their willingness and class to cope without the star Alexis Sanchez.
If they can bring Aubameyang, it will turn out to be a good transfer window despite the departure of the Chilean forward.
