Arsenal were quite exceptional on a night which saw Alexis Sanchez and Aaron Ramsey shine after they defeated Hull 3-1 at the KC stadium.
Alexis Sanchez opened the scoring for the red and white after his deflected free-kick found the back of the net. The second goal game half an hour into the game as Ramsey scored with another deflected shot before setting up Sanchez for Arsenal’s third.
Complacency set in the Gunners early on in the second half after Stephen Quinn headed in to give Hull hope, but they eventually succumbed to their 17th league defeat of the season.
Arsenal stamped authority in the opening 10 minutes of the game itself spraying passes all around the pitch with more than 80% off the ball. Cazorla was dictating the terms in midfield, while Ramsey, Alexis and Ozil sprang into attack.
Alexis was exceptional on the night which saw him score for the third time this season against the Tigers. He was fouled on the edge of the box and his free kick curled in with a slight deflection of Michael Dawson’s head for Arsenal’s first.
Cazorla showed his magic feet after a sublime long pass picked Ramsey inside the box, who turned for a split second and his dipping shot was helped by Robbie Brady into the back of the net for Arsenal’s second.
Arsenal just could not stop attacking a timid Hull defence and our third came shortly afterwards when Ramsey’s reverse pass met Alexis who rounded off keeper Harper to take the applause of the crowd. The first half ended absolutely sensationally for us.
The Gunners went on to attack Hull in the second half as well, but were happy to give the ball away to Hull to preserve the lead. As the half went by a momentary lack of concentration saw Hull get one back with Quinn’s perfectly placed header. It was Elmohamady who delivered the cross for his 5th assist of the season.
Unfortunately for the home side the goal didn’t spark a possible comeback as Arsenal closed out the game to go on level with Manchester City in the table with a game in hand.
The fans were ecstatic to see Jack Wilshere come on in the second half after being on the sidelines since November. He produced a typical dribble, going past three Hull defenders before being taken down to a foul. He also had a shot that was blocked late on in his cameo performance.
The game saw Alexis net his 24th goal of the season and after this victory, we are in the best possible position to end up as runners up after more than a decade. We are now undefeated in the last 10 games and play Swansea at home next.
