Arsene Wenger has assured that Arsenal have not received any offers for wantaway star Alexis Sanchez so far, as per Sky Sports.
Tuesday morning saw numerous news reports emerging of a possible Man City bid of £30m to bring the Chilean striker to the Etihad.
As per Sky Sports, Wenger has denied any knowledge of such as transfer taking place and was also quoted as saying:
“I expect nothing.”
“When solicitation happens you respond, at the moment it is very quiet.”
The Gunners played out a 0-0 draw against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup semifinal after their shocking 3rd round exit from the FA Cup after a 4-2 thrashing at the hands of Nottingham Forest.
It is the first time in 21 years that Arsenal exited the FA cup in the 3rd round. The defending champions were playing with a depleted squad although the presence of several senior players like Walcott couldn’t swing the tie in the Gunners favour.
With a top-four finish in the Premier League appearing like a distant dream the North Londoners have only the Carabao cup and the Europa League to look forward to in the coming months.
Adding to their transfer woes, midfielders Mesut Ozil and Jack Wilshire are entering the last six months of their contract and are yet to put pen to paper. Both these players have received interest from clubs outside the Premier League.
However, Wenger has no such fears of them moving out of England.
He is quoted as saying: “It’s not a big concern.I believe that most of the players today want to play in the premier league.the premier league can pay contracts and wages that no other apart from maybe three or four clubs abroad can pay.”
Apart from the transfer of Sanchez, the Gunners seem to poised for a busy January transfer window with players moving both in and out of the club.
Coquelin has already completed his move to Valencia and Debuchy is also likely to follow suite albeit to a different club.
Arsenal are in dire need of reinforcements in almost every area of the team and Wenger will be looking at a complete squad overhaul if we are to achieve a strong finish this season.
