Arsenal have reportedly been offered the prospect of signing Raheem Sterling in a proposed deal which could see Alexis Sanchez join Manchester City. The 28-year-old has just 10 months left on his Gunners deal.
The Chile international is said to be unsettled at the Emirates, and the 4-0 defeat to Liverpool has done no better to his situation in north London.
Pep Guardiola has been keen on a reunion with Sanchez for a while, and according to The Mirror, they are prepared to part ways with Sterling in a player-plus-cash deal for Sanchez.
Arsene Wenger has repeatedly admitted that the attacker is not up for sale, but it is understood that the Gunners would be tempted by a straight cash offer worth £70m for his services.
Sterling has been in-and-out of the Citizens lineup since the start of the season, but he has still proved effective with an equaliser against Everton which was followed by a late winner versus Bournemouth.
There is expected to be plenty of movement in the Gunners’ rank before Thursday’s transfer deadline with Kieran Gibbs, Lucas Perez, Mathieu Debuchy, Shkodran Mustafi all on the edge of leaving the club.
Unfortunately, there does not seem any inward movement with the club yet to reopen negotiations with AS Monaco for priority target Thomas Lemar.
Sanchez looked out of sorts during the embarrassing defeat to the Reds last weekend, and it will be interesting to see whether the club will show their resolve to stick with a player, who is clearly unimpressed by the recent results.
