Arsenal are reportedly confident of committing Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain to a new long-term deal. The England international has less than a year left on his current deal, but the Gunners are confident of fending any transfer interest in his services.

Oxlade-Chamberlain, 24, has made nearly 200 appearances for the Gunners since arriving as a 17-year-old from Southampton back in the summer of 2011.

However, during this period, he has struggled to become a regular in the starting lineup, and it was only until the backend of last season did he gain the confidence of the manager.

According to The Star, the Gunners have offered a fresh four-year deal worth £125,000-a-week to the Ox as they seek to end interest from the likes of Chelsea in the transfer window.

It is added that the FA Cup holders are confident that the new wing-back will commit his long-term future to the Emirates despite mulling over a switch across London earlier in the month.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has started all three games for the Gunners this term including the Community Shield, and it appears that his situation could be at wing-back, although Granit Xhaka has been poor of late in central midfield.

Meanwhile, the Gunners are still far off from negotiating terms with Alexis Sanchez, who could be the subject of a £60m bid from rivals Manchester City this month, The Star reports.

Shkodran Mustafi was also highlighted for his poor performance alongside Xhaka in the 1-0 defeat to Stoke City, and the Gunners are waiting for Inter Milan to match his entire £35m valuation after having snubbed a loan approach.
