Nice president Jean-Pierre Rivere has provided a huge transfer boost to Arsenal after admitting that the club could sell their transfer-listed players which includes Jean-Michel Seri.
A recent report from L’Equipe suggested that the Gunners find themselves in pole position to sign the central midfielder after his proposed move to AS Roma fell through due to his high wage demands.
Seri is also a transfer target for north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur, but manager Arsene Wenger still has an eye on the player, although he is reluctant to match his £36m release clause.
Discussing Nice’s transfer plans with L’Equipe h/t The Express, Rivere revealed that he expects two players to be sold quickly but the club are likely to remain firm on their valuation, he said: “There should be three or four more arrivals and two departures.
“I think we will manage because these last ones should be finalised faster than those from last year. People laughed at the release clauses of certain players. But now people realise that they are no joke and that we are in a favourable position when working on these cases.
“Monaco vice-president Vasim Vasilyev has recently clarified that top Gunners target Thomas Lemar will not be sold during the summer transfer window, and it appears that Seri has been identified as the new option, though he occupies a different position on the playing field.
Seri was the driving force behind Nice’s success last term, and he managed seven goals and nine assists as his club finished third in the French Ligue 1.
The Ivorian dubbed the ‘African Xavi’ has previously expressed his desire to join Barcelona, but the Catalan giants are not prepared to match the player’s escape clause.
