Sanchez and Ozil: Why the Superstar duo might still stay at Arsenal next season

Arsenal

Once again, the summer transfer window is upon us, and with news of Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger signing a new 2-year contract, expectations are high both on the positive and negative sides for the Gunners.

The gossips are already flying about and there are two names[Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil] in particular that are dominating the headlines. Despite Arsenal’s disappointing League campaign, these two stars proved that they are world class players, deserving all the attention they receive.

The future of this two amazing talents has never been more complicated than it is now. While both have barely 12 months left on their current contract, they are targets for several top teams in England as well as outside the country.

Their reluctance on putting pen to paper can be interpreted in a million ways, but there are some facts that are more obvious than the others. The opportunity to play Champions League football, better pay, greater chances of winning major trophies and taking up new challenges are points some interested clubs may use to lure them, but I believe there are some other factors that can make the stars to stay, at least for one more year.

Here are some of the reasons:

  1. ARSENAL WILL FIGHT TO KEEP THEM AT ALL COST

Arsene Wenger has reiterated time and again that he intends to keep his stars and has no desire, whatsoever, to sell. While the thought of selling to a Premier League rival is completely out of the question, the Gunners can equally refuse to entertain any form of interest from other European teams. Letting the duo leave will spell doom for the club as far as attractiveness is concerned and it is clear this is not the path the club will go.

  1. THEY NOW HAVE A HIGHER CHANCE OF CLAIMING A EUROPEAN TROPHY

While we cannot predict the fortunes of the North London club in the Europa Cup now, it won’t be wrong to say that their chances of winning the trophy are better than the chances we would have had if we were to play in the Champions League. Arsene Wenger has never won a European competition and he may see this as an opportunity to redeem his image on the continental level.

  1. THEY LOVE LONDON, EVERYBODY LOVES LONDON

Sanchez and Ozil have both on several occasions expressed their love for the city of London. Though we can’t specifically point out what they love about the City, that passion might be strong enough to keep them at the club.

  1. WENGER IS STAYING, AND HE IS THEIR FATHER

While Arsene Wenger has lost the backing of a good number of the Gunners fans, the popularity he enjoys among his own players has remained intact over the years. While Ozil’s contract reluctance has been linked to the uncertainty of the contract situation of Wenger, we’d hope he can put pen to paper as his father has done, and encourage his Chilean friend to do likewise.

  1. WE LOVE THEM, AND THEY KNOW IT

Arsenal fans are solidly behind these two players and we know the duo are aware of it. We really hope the love is reciprocal and strong enough to make them stay with us a little more.
