Arsenal are understood to be lining up a summer approach for Juventus left-back Alex Sandro, a report from TalkSPORT claims.
The Gunners are hot on the trail of a new left-sided defender this summer with a recent report from Sky Sports suggesting that the club have wrapped up a Bosman move for Schalke’s Sead Kolasinac.
In spite of this, the north London giants continue to be linked with new recruits with Juventus’ Sandro emerging as a fresh target for the summer transfer window.
According to TalkSPORT, via Tuttosport, the FA Cup finalists will propose a £34m offer for the Brazil international, who has gone on to make 48 appearances in the Italian Serie A.
The Old Lady had recruited the full-back from Porto for £22m in the summer of 2015, and he has since evolved into a key first-team player under Max Allegri, who has recently shifted to the four-at-the-back formation.
Juventus are currently in discussions over a new long-term deal with Sandro – dubbed the ‘next Roberto Carlos’, but they could yet be tempted to accept the Gunners’ package for his services.
With Kolasinac due to arrive at the Emirates this summer, the Gunners are already packed with a number of options on the left side of the defence.
Nacho Monreal and Kieran Gibbs have performed their duties efficiently over the course of the campaign, and a move for an additional defender may creep doubts on the future of the experienced pair.
Spain international Monreal has been annually linked with a switch to Basque club Athletic Bilbao, and there is a possibility that the La Liga club could revive their interest in the 31-year-old.
Meanwhile, Gibbs has not had a fond time with the Gunners in recent seasons, and he could pursue regular first-team football elsewhere with his existing deal due to expire in 13 months’ time.
Arsenal will look to maintain their slim hopes of a top-four finish when they take on relegated Sunderland in the Premier League on Tuesday night.
