Long-term Arsenal target Alexandre Lacazette has admitted that he is ‘prepared’ to leave Lyon, should a bigger club come forward for his services in the summer.
The French striker has netted an impressive tally of 30 goals across all competitions this term, but despite this, his club are far off from competing for a Champions League spot.
In a report in Metro, the 25-year-old has revealed that he could part ways with Bruno Genesio’s side, should the right offer be made in the next transfer window.
He said: “Will this be my last few months at Lyon? It depends which teams will be on offer to me. I am prepared to leave, but only to make a significant leap forward. Otherwise, nothing will happen.”
Arsene Wenger’s side have held a keen interest in the France international since 2014, and they failed to convince Les Gones into a sale during the previous summer transfer window.
The Gunners are currently in a real fight to achieve Champions League football for next season, and this could go on to haunt them with both Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid prepared to vie for the marksman’s signature.
Nevertheless, Wenger has had a good connection with French players over the years, and he could yet use his influence in order to attract Lacazette to the Emirates this summer.
Wenger’s future is due to be resolved in the coming weeks with the club’s hierarchy prepared to offer him a fresh two-year extension with the promise of a hefty transfer kitty to spend on fresh recruits.
Lacazette has netted over 100 goals in a four-year period with Lyon, but he still remains an outsider for Didier Deschamps’ Les Bleus, with his last appearance coming in October 2015.
