Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez has emerged as the prime transfer target for Paris Saint-Germain ahead of this summer’s transfer window.
The Chile international has been in a rich vein of form for the Gunners this season, netting 23 goals and assisting a further 14 across all competitions.
According to Yahoo France, via Metro, the Ligue 1 holders are lining up a transfer approach for the in-form attacker amid his reluctance to ink terms over a fresh contract.
Sanchez, 28, has only 14 months left on his previous deal at the Emirates, and it is suggested that the Gunners will cash in on his services rather than losing him on a free to a domestic rival in a year’s time.
Unai Emery’s side have been overly reliant on Edinson Cavani to produce the goods upfront, and they are now prepared to step up their interest in Sanchez with an opening offer of around £46m.
Sanchez, who is currently on a £130,000-a-week package, is also a transfer target for rivals Manchester City and Chelsea but the Gunners will avoid any potential deal as it would only strengthen their respective squads.
The former Barcelona man is currently holding out for a salary in upwards of £300,000-a-week, and Les Parisiens are among the few clubs capable of matching his wage demands ahead of his possible departure from north London in the summer.
Meanwhile, the Gunners could face a potential double blow during the off-season with the French champions also willing to lure midfielder Mesut Ozil, who is in a similar contract standoff as Sanchez.
Both Sanchez and Ozil are understood to be committed to the Gunners cause prior to the end of the season as they seek to qualify for the Champions League for the 20th successive campaign next term.
Arsenal are currently seven points adrift of fourth-placed Manchester City with a game in hand, and they will be hoping that their rivals slip between now and the end of the season.
