Arsenal are reported to be close to offloading star forward Alexis Sanchez to Manchester City during this summer’s transfer window.
The Chilean attacker has shown no signs of extending his current £130,000-a-week contract despite his existing deal due to conclude in less than 15 months’ time.
A recent report covered suggested that the Gunners could permit the sale of the 28-year-old after manager Arsene Wenger was dissatisfied by the player’s reaction during their 5-1 Champions League thumping at the hands of Bayern Munich last month.
And the speculation has been further intensified by Chilean outlet Cooperativa, who claim that the player is closing in on a reunion with former boss Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.
Guardiola continues to hold a close relationship with the Chilean after having worked together previously at Barcelona, and he has managed to heap praise on the winger whenever he is on the opposition side.
According to Cooperativa, the Gunners will be keen to cash in on the attacker, should he continue to play hardball in negotiations over a new long-term deal.
It is added that the Citizens could be the first in line to make an offer with Pep willing to sanction a £50m move alongside £200,000-a-week in wages in order to lure his favourite player to the Etihad this summer.
Sanchez has previously iterated that he would prefer to feature for a club in London with a ‘winning mentality‘ but the prospect of linking up with Pep could be something hard to turn down regardless of the rainy weather.
Meanwhile, Arsenal may have to contend with the shock departure of midfielder Mesut Ozil to City rivals Manchester United, should they fail to convince him to sign a new deal at the end of the season.
