Arsenal have reportedly offered their talismatic forward Alexis Sanchez a new contract worth £9.3 million a year, according to reports in Daily Mail.
The Gunners are desperate to keep Sanchez at the Emirates for long with the Chilean being in the form of his life, scoring 14 times in 22 appearances(as per WhoScored.com) while chipping in another eight assists along the way.
The 27-year-old’s current contract with the North London club will expire in the summer of 2018 and there have been reports that the Chilean is also considering a move to China.
The report from the Daily Mail states that the latest offer from the North London club amounts to a staggering £9.3 million a year, which equals £180,000 per week and the latest offer is around £50,000-per-week raise on his current deal.
It further states that negotiations remain at an impasse but the offer has reportedly been rejected by Sanchez, who is reportedly holding out for a £1 million a month deal which equals almost £250,000 per week.
His wage demands means the current offer on the table is still £70,000 a week below the figure demanded by the club’s top scorer this term.
With 18 months remaining on his current deal with the club, there is still plenty time to secure a deal with the Copa America winner. However, as negotiations continue to drag, fans and Arsenal officials will be growing more anxious the longer a deal takes to materialise.
However, should a deal remain elusive by the summer, other clubs will then be able to begin courting the diminutive goal scorer about a potential move away from the London club.
