The Express reported that Arsene Wenger is interested in Liverpool out-of-favor winger Jordon Ibe and could make a shock move for the player this summer.
Reports have it that the English man is “considering his options” and manager Jurgen Klopp is ready to listen to offers for him. The 20-year-old is one of the Red Devils promising talents but has struggled for form at the club.
The England U21 member has been pushed down the pecking order with Roberto Firmino, Philippe Coutinho, Adam Lallana, James Milner and Sheti Ojo all ahead of him.
He has made 39 appearances in all competitions for the Merseyside club this season, completing just two of those in the Premier League and this could have necessitated his reason for wanting to depart the club in search of more playing time, despite having four years left on his current contract.
Tottenham and Watford are reportedly also keeping close watch on the youngster who moved to Anfield from Wycombe in 2012. Bringing another under-performed winger to the Emirates stadium doesn’t seem to be the best and it is the least of news the fans would want to listen to.
Ibe’s compatriots Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-chamberlain have both failed to impress in that position. A more consistent winger should be brought in if Wenger is really serious rebuilding the team. Also, reports from Spain have it that the London club have been in talks with Villareal midfielder Dennis Suarez.
The 22-year-old is one of the midfield targets Wenger is aiming to bring to the club ahead of next season. The Spaniard had a short stint in the Premier League between 2011 and 2013 with Manchester City who alongside Tottenham are also in him.
Spanish media, Marca also reported that another former club Barcelona are interested in his services and could trigger the £2.5 million buy-back clause on his four-year contract at Villareal.
Personally, I think get Ibe will be a very good one and will also serve as a good replacement for chamberlain. He has been in superb form for the Yellow submarines since joining the club last summer, making 43 La Liga and Europa League appearances, scoring five goals and assisting another 11.
His acquisition could signal the end of Theo Walcott at Arsenal after Wenger admitted that the 26-year-old has failed to develop at the rate we had expected. Suarez will provide the much needed attack from the midfield and can also create attacks from the wings
