Arsenal’s search for a striker this summer is turning out to be a roller coaster ride so far, and it doesn’t seem to be ending any time soon.
The search for that elusive striker who can lead the Gunners to the Premier League title started out with the triggering of Vardy’s release clause and continued for a week before the Englishman decided to stay.
Then came the Higuain deal which contrary to reports was actually a non-starter thanks to the money involved.
Lacazette deal seemed a lot more realistic in terms of finances but there hasn’t been any progress and although Icardi seems hot right now, no one really knows how that pans out.
Now latest reports according to Italian journalist Emanuele Giulianelli suggest that Arsenal are actually eyeing a secret striker and are reportedly expected being talks some time today. He also claimed that the secret striker is not among the fore-mentioned players.
Here are the series of tweets from Italian journalist Emanuele Giulianelli, with the first one suggesting the club are ramping up their attempts to land a lethal hitman.
Arsenal staff had a transfer meeting today & are plotting a big name striker move. Not Higuain/Lacazette/Icardi though.

He further reports that talks are believed to have been held between top officials at the North London club as they plot a blockbuster move, with £50-60m set side for a potential deal.
Keeping the name between a few of them. Contact to be made tomorrow as there is £50-60m ready to be spent on the player. #Arsenal #afc

If we go by the previous record of Emanuele there have been some hits and misses in terms of predictions of the Italian, but he is definitely not a guy who just picks something up from the thin air.
The thing we definitely know here is that the Gunners will sign a striker this summer and with the inflated prices in the market they surely need at least need £40 million to pull of a move, so the claim doesn’t actually sound outrageous.
However the interesting part here is that the Italian didn’t mention the name of the player while confirming that it is not Higuain, Icardi or Lacazette. If we have a look at the striker market currently then I don’t see any other big name players available except for one man Antoine Griezmann.
He was very impressive during the Euro’s and is still young. If at all Atletico will be willing to sell then his value will be in the range that Emanuele suggested. Lets see how this particular news pans out and hope Wenger will bring in a quality striker.
