Colombian international David Ospina is reportedly heading for an Arsenal exit this summer amid the ongoing pursuit from Turkish club Fenerbahce.
The 28-year-old goalkeeper has started just two league games for the Gunners all season with manager Arsene Wenger preferring to pick Petr Cech as the club’s number one.
According to Turkish-Football via Fotospor, Fener have made significant progress in their bid to sign Ospina after having agreed terms in principle with the talented shot-stopper.
The former Nice man has apparently settled a four-year contract with the Istanbul giants, and a summer deal will go through, should they manage to negotiate a fee with Arsenal.
Ospina has already revealed his intention to part ways with the FA Cup finalists in the summer after he was quoted in a report in Fanatik where he insisted that the club will not come in the way of his potential exit.
“My agent is dealing with transfer matters but I will say this, I’ve told Arsenal that I want to leave and I would play in Turkey,” Ospina told the source.
“I am actually happy at Arsenal but I want to play regularly, the club understands my situation and will not attempt to block a summer exit.
“We will just have to wait and see what happens next.”
Ospina, who is currently Colombia’s first-choice shot-stopper, has been on the fringes of the first-team since Petr Cech’s arrival from Chelsea in the summer of 2015.
He has been rewarded with a role in the Cup and European games in recent seasons, but this has not been enough to satisfy a player, who has been a consistent performer for his national team over the years.
Ospina may have played his last game of his Arsenal career with Wenger likely to pick Cech for the FA Cup final against Chelsea later this month.
