Forget Lemar, this 23-year-old attacker will be a great signing for Arsenal

From what we have heard over the past few days, it appears that Arsenal’s pursuit of Thomas Lemar may not materialize this summer.

Monaco seem determined to hold on to their rising star which is understandable considering that they’ve lost so many players already. It is surprising that Wenger and his management team stuck to the idea of signing him for so long.

While this may be seen by some fans as another case of missing transfer targets, I think it is an opportunity to get back to a player we all have long hoped to see in North London.

Indeed, a few years ago, I used to wake up to check if we have finally landed Julian Draxler as major newspapers continuously kept us busy with rumours of reached agreement and all, but so many transfer windows opened and closed without the German international actually making the switch.

When the World Cup winner moved from Wolfsburg to PSG in January, I was saddened to see the Gunners miss the chance to tap him up. However, if we are to go by the latest reports, it seems we have an ample opportunity to get our man this summer.

With Neymar joining PSG in a world record transfer, Julian Draxler will be pushed down the pecking order and it is rumoured that he has fallen out of favour with PSG manager Unai Emery. In fact, it has been reported by the Sun that he has been told he can leave the club.

The North London club have been scorching the market for a midfielder but have failed to make inroads so far. With Draxler being available it’s time for Wenger to pull the strings and get his man like he did with Ozil.

Wenger has always been a fan of the German international but the French boss never really prioritised his signing.

The situations are identical, only that we can get Draxler for a lesser fee. As PSG signed him for about £35.5 million, we can get him for a sum within same region.

At 23, Draxler is already a proven player. His talents cannot be debated and his style of play will surely fit the Arsenal style. It is expected that several other teams will be interested in his signature, but we can get him if the board try hard enough.

It is evident that his place at Paris is in a serious question and I am sure the life in North London will be ideal for both Draxler and Arsenal FC.
