Arsenal have been linked with a host of players even with the transfer window yet to open as Gunners boss Arsene Wenger reportedly wants to complete his signings before the commencement of EURO 2016 in France next month.
The French coach, after criticized for being economical in the transfer window over the past seasons, is now fully aware of the need to inject capable and fresh legs into the team.
Petr Cech, who signed from Chelsea, was the only recruit last season. Wenger face serious scrutiny for larger parts of the season that just ended after his side dropped out of the race to win the Premier League title.
Arsenal defeated Aston Villa 4-0 in the last game of the season to move to the second spot above our London bitter rivals Tottenham who were demolished 1-5 by already relegated Newcastle. That was the only consolations to the fans.
Wenger has therefore, hinted that club will bring in three new players this summer in a bid to strengthen the team ahead of next season.
Speaking before the match against Aston Villa, as quoted by Evening Standard, Wenger said:
‘We want to keep the squad stable over the summer while strengthening where possible,’ said the Frenchman.
‘You want the group to be stimulated and to believe that we have improved the quality. ‘I must say, we want to combine technical stability with players that we know want to play and know our game. ‘Maybe bring in three players for example. That’s the right level for me.’
In order to avoid suffering to what happened last summer, personally I think Wenger needs to stick to his word of bringing in the required players to strengthen the squad. We have been hearing these comments from Wenger year in year out. The same repeated itself last season, in the summer he was expect to sign at least two – three players but he refuse to do.
In the midfield, the Emirates outfits already been identified with the likes of Borussia Monchengladbach Granit Xhaka, Borussia Dortmund Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Leicester City N’Golo Kante. A £33.8 million offer has already submitted for Xhaka and talks are in top gear to complete the deal.
The French manager already has Juventus Alavro Morata, Inter Milan Marco Icardi on his wishlist to bolster the team’s attack that managed just 65 goals in the Premier League last season coupled with Danny Welbeck injury that will keep him out of action until next year.
