Newly appointed Arsenal manager Unai Emery is reportedly prepared to offer a second chance to Spanish forward Lucas Perez.
The 29-year-old has been with the Gunners over the past two seasons but spent the previous campaign on a season-long loan in Spain.
Perez came to the Emirates with a huge reputation after scoring 17 goals for Deportivo during the 2015/16 season, but he failed to convince former boss Arsene Wenger of his abilities.
During his debut campaign, Perez managed to net a decent tally of eight goals which included a Champions League hat-trick but he could manage only two starts in the top-flight.
As such, Perez returned to Deportivo for the 2017/18 on loan but his time in A Coruna was rather unsuccessful with the crowd often calling him a mercenary for his average showing.
According to Eldesmarque, Perez could be offered a chance to revive his career with Arsenal with Emery wanting the Spaniard to report to pre-season training with his Gunners teammates.
It is added that Emery had kept a close watch on the winger during his initial days at Paris Saint-Germain and he could yet earn a second lease of life in north London.
Arsenal are likely to place their emphasis on bolstering the midfield and defensive departments this summer and reports of a meagre £50m kitty suggest that Emery may have to offload a couple of recruits.
As a result, strengthening the forward department should not be in the club’s mind but Perez may yet make a meaningful impact with several players including Theo Walcott, who was normally ahead of the Spaniard in the pecking order, having left the club.
