Arsenal have started the season in a woeful fashion mainly due to their defensive lapses but in the defeat to Manchester United on Saturday it was the attack that let them down.
The Gunners controlled the majority of the first half with some excellent play, but they wasted all of that good work as they failed to convert the chances. Their lack of cutting edge in front of goal came back to haunt them in the second half as Kieran Gibbs, as who was lying on the ground after colliding with Szczesny, diverted Antonio Valenica’s cross into his own goal.
The North London club continued to push forward in search of the equaliser, but Wayne Rooney made it 2-0 on a counter attack when Sanchez gave away the ball deep in the opposition half .
Giroud came on for Ramsey late in the game and pulled a goal back in added time, but it was a little too late as the game finished 2-1. Wenger’s side started the campaign with high hopes in view of challenging for the title, but they already trailing league leaders Chelsea by 15 points.
Here are some of the best tweets from the game. Let”s start with Piers Morgan
If we lose to this shower, it really is The End. Worst United team we've played in Wenger's whole tenure. #AFCvMUFC

Done with the excuses. Done with the rose-tinted fans. Done with the supine media. Done with rolling over vs big teams. Wenger's OVER. #afc

There are numerous Arsenal fans who still believe Wenger's irreplaceable. Just bafflingly stupid. We're 8th, worst start for 32yrs.

Couldn't be bothered to listen to Wenger after the game – what was today's excuse? Money? Stadium? Weather? Mental strength? Referee? #afc

Is not Wenger who miss those chances, the players did. And I have to admit, we kinda lost it at second half.

Why must blame Wenger? Yes, he's old fashion and his tactics are no longer relevant but it's not entirely his fault.
