‘Wenger In’, Fans react on Twitter after Arsenal make club-record £87m bid for French striker

Kylian Mbappe

Arsenal fans today woke up to surprise reports (L’Equipe) suggesting that the club have tabled a club-record offer for Monaco sensation Kylian Mbappe. The teenager had a season to remember with the Principality outfit last term as they won their first French title since the millennium.

Mbappe, 18, was initially playing second fiddle to the likes of Radamel Falcao and Valere Germain upfront, but an injury to the former allowed him to cement a place in the starting lineup.

The youngster bagged an overall tally of 26 goals during his breakthrough season, and this has attracted interest from several elite clubs including Real Madrid, who are deemed to have had a bid knocked back for the player.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has often restricted his spending purse during the summer period, and the prospect of spending an £87m sum on a teenager generated plenty of reaction on social media.

Not worth £100m then?

Not good enough, Balotelli and Falcao are better?

Polls are in favour of Mbappe though!

Wenger had plotted to bring the highly-rated talent to the Emirates a season ago, but unfortunately, Monaco weren’t keen on losing their forward owing to his immense potential.

A number of former Premier League flops have hit the heights in Ligue 1 including Bafetimbi Gomis and Mario Balotelli, and Mbappe could have a real test in his hands, should Arsenal somehow secure his services ahead of their European rivals.
