Tony Adams reveals what Arsenal will do next with Arsene Wenger

Arsenal legend Tony Adams feels Arsene Wenger will prolong his stay with the north London club following the FA Cup final victory over Chelsea last weekend.

The 67-year-old endured one of his worst campaigns in the Premier League after his side finished outside the top-four for the first time in his 21-year reign.

In spite of this, the long-standing head coach answered some of his critics after he managed to guide the club to a record 13th FA Cup title – the seventh under his management.

Speaking to The Guardian, Adams insisted that the club’s hierarchy have no power to determine Wenger’s future as the Frenchman is the owner of his own destiny.

“That’s why I think he’ll hold on to Arsenal,” he told The Guardian. “But he would’ve been sacked after a year at Madrid. He would’ve had to go to from club to club.

“But, at Arsenal, he’s got total dominance. The board do nothing. Arsene has a free rein. He’s earning them so much money he can do what he wants.

“And I don’t think Arsene can let go. It’s an addiction.”

Wenger earned himself a three-year extension after ending the club’s long trophy drought in 2014, and it is predicted that the manager could be rewarded with a similar contract following yet another triumph in the FA Cup.

Apart from the head coach, the Gunners have other problems to concentrate on as well with the future of key duo Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez among others including Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Aaron Ramsey still in the balance.

The aforementioned players put in a real shift in the FA Cup final at Wembley, but the win does not fully guarantee the stay of one particular Sanchez, who was mistakenly mentioned as a Bayern Munich player during the recently released Confederations Cup squad.

Sanchez contributed 30 goals and 15 assists for Arsenal during the 2016-17 season.
