Since the arrival of Mikel Arteta, things have been looking better for Arsenal and they now have consecutive wins after beating Manchester United and Leeds United. They have advanced to the 4th round of the FA Cup and are trying to get their league season back on track.
But, they do need to bring in some reinforcements if they are to try and squeeze into Champions League qualification spots. So, here are 3 players that can strengthen the current squad and help the Gunners finish the season on a strong note.
Jerome Boateng
Due to Calum Chambers’s injury concerns, Arteta might be looking for someone to strengthen the defense. One of the names that has cropped up being linked with Arsenal is that of German center-back Jerome Boateng.
Though he is on the wrong side of 30, he will bring with him a lot of experience. He is extremely comfortable on the ball and will solidify the club’s jittery defense. This is a deal that could work very well in the short-term and give Arsenal some much-needed respite in an area where they need it the most.
Hakim Ziyech
Moving to the midfield, one player that the Gunners should be looking at is Moroccan playmaker Hakim Ziyech who plays for Ajax. Even though Mesut Ozil plays in a similar role, having a player with the creative qualities of Ziyech will give Arteta more options.
And the thought of having Ziyech linking with players such as Pepe and Aubameyang will have fans drooling. He has shown that he has what it takes to play at an elite level and could very well end up being the long-term successor to Mesut Ozil.
Raul Jimenez
Going further, a striker will be needed if the news about club captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang wanting to move to a Champions League club becomes true. Though he has reaffirmed his commitment at least for now, Arsenal could really do with a striker like Raul Jimenez of Wolves.
The Mexican has been a revelation since coming to the Premier League and he would slot in perfectly into the Gunners squad. His hard pressing and composure in front of goal would certainly be a very appealing factor for Arteta.
Arsenal might need to move quickly if they are to get some of the top players because the market is very competitive. Fans will be waiting with bated breath to see who might be on their way to the Emirates.
