Arsenal new boy Shkodran Mustafi believes that fellow signing Lucas Perez has all the qualities to be a top striker in the Premier League and that he will be a tough proposition for Premier League defenders, ESPN understands.
German international Mustafi, who arrived at the Emirates alongside Spanish striker Lucas Perez, has had his first training at the London Colney alongide his new teammate and fellow signing, and has only praise to offer for the 27 year old Spaniard.
In a report in ESPN that quoted Mustafi’s interview on Arsenal’s official website, here is what Arsenal’s new recruit had to say:
“He’s a good striker — he has everything a striker needs. He’s someone you can play well with. He doesn’t just run around and wait for someone to give him a pass to score a goal. He works a lot for the team as well and he creates chances.”
“He’s in the right place at the right time, as he showed last year in La Liga. I played there for two years and I know it’s not that easy to score many goals in La Liga because you have great defenders there. I think he’s going to help the team a lot.”
Lucas Perez, 27 managed 17 goals in a Deportiva La Coruna side that was miles of the top 4 spot in La Liga. With much more aid available to him on the pitch in the form of Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez, Santi Cazorla and fellow new signing Granit Xhaka, the Spaniard could do wonders.
Perez has himself revealed his strengths as a forward in his first interview for Arsenal. He is capable of playing as a striker, out wide and as a second striker. He is quick and is able to play at a defenders shoulder, while also familiar with Arsenal’s quick pass movement and combination play in the final third.
Thou art right, Shkodran, Perez could prove to be a sweat deal for the Gunners. Fellow contenders, beware!
