Inter Milan are set to make an ambitious move to sign Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez. The Chilean has turned down contract talks at the Emirates.
Juventus are understood to have tried their luck signing Sanchez after losing Alvaro Morata, and now Spanish sports magazine Don Balon claims that Inter will be next to try their luck.
Arsenal’s Chilean international has only two years remaining on his contract with the North London side, and his hesitation at sparking discussions to renew the contract this summer, alongside teammate Mesut Ozil, has led to a number of clubs declaring their interest, including Inter Milan.
Don Balón reports that Frank De Boer has instructed Inter chiefs to go after Sanchez who will roughly cost £69million(€80m) and is willing to sell Mauro Icardi in a bid to make room for the Copa America winner.
But Sanchez will expect annual wages of £7m if he leaves the Emirates, and Wenger could now face an important decision as transfer deadline day looms on the horizon.
Arsenal are unlikely to offload Sanchez at any price this summer unless he demands an exit from the club.
When boss Arsene Wenger was asked for an update on the talks between Arsenal and stars Özil and Sanchez, the Frenchman insisted there was no cause for concern.
The 27-year-old joined Arsenal in 2014 from Barcelona for £35m, and has quickly become a fans favourite with 42 goals over two seasons at the Gunners, including a memorable long range strike in their FA Cup victory over Aston Villa in his first season at Arsenal.
There is no reason for concern as normally contract extensions are handled only after the transfer window shuts as it gives more time to handle the contract and make it better for both the parties.
With Sanchez being one of the best players at the club, we could see his new contract jump the likes of Walcott and make him the highest earner is the Arsenal team and he surely deserves more than 140k man.
