Former Arsenal defender, Steve Bould, has reportedly delayed his decision to extend his contract as the assistant manager awaits the managerial appointment, according to reports in Telegraph.
The club have confirmed a backroom clearout in the last 48 hours as they make way for the new manager to bring his own team into the club.
In the last week, Boro Primorac, Neil Banfield, fitness coach Tony Colbert, head physio Colin Lewin and goalkeeping coach Gerry Peyton have all followed Arsene Wenger out of the exit door.
It is reported that Bould and Jens Lehman have been offered to stay at the club, however both are yet to commit to the Gunners, with a move for managerial favourite Mikel Arteta potential impacting their future.
Something that may push Bould towards the Emirates exit door and arrive with his former team at the bet365 Stadium, as it looks increasingly likely that Paul Lambert will not lead Stoke into the Championship next season.
The attraction of becoming a manager with enough financial clout to return Stoke straight back to the Premier League would be an attractive option for many, should he be given the opportunity.
If he was to leave, a number of Arsenal fans on social media are already speculating his replacement.
Mikel Arteta’s friend and former Spanish international, Xabi Alonso, has been rumoured to be Arteta’s preferred number two with the Gunners fans set to welcome the former Liverpool star.
The serial winner, who has won the Champions League and World Cup trophies, will bring a new determination and a technical expertise to the coaching team.
He is currently undertaking a coaching course with Spanish Federation and will able to join Arsenal as soon as possible.
That is, if the current Manchester City coach is chosen to be one to lead Arsenal’s next chapter.
