Arsenal are looking to make a final push to sign Celtic left back Kieran Tierney after their initial bids were rejected, according to reports in Sky Sports.
The report states that the North London club are confident that they can get their man before transfer deadline on August 8th.
The Emirates club had made a £25m bid that was rejected because of the way it was structured and they now will be coming back with a revised offer.
Arsenal were not offering enough money upfront and that was a deal breaker as far as Celtic were concerned. And the add-ons that the club had proposed were also dependent on them qualifying for the Champions League. This kind of offer was rejected by the Scottish Champions.
Tierney is a player that has been identified by the club as someone who can solve their defensive issues and that is why they have been chasing him all summer. If they can get the deal done before deadline day, it would be a great signing and add to the already fantastic window that the Gunners are having.
He would become the fifth transfer that Arsenal will have made this summer and be the second player to be brought in for the defense. With new signing William Saliba set to spend a season away on loan, the potential signing of Tierney has taken on a real sense of urgency.
Tierney has what it takes to lock down the left hand side of the Arsenal defense for many years to come. Although Sead Kolasinac has proven himself to be a great attacking presence, his defensive work can be found wanting at times.
This is an area where the Scot is much more assured as he brings a sense of calmness to the way he defends. The transfer window closes very soon so the final offer from the Gunners will have to be made as soon as possible to be successful.
Arsenal want Tierney to come to the Emirates and all that is remaining is for them to restructure the way the fee will be paid. The fans will be hoping that they will get to see the talented defender in the red and white very soon.
