Sky Pundit Matt Le Tissier has voiced his opinion on Arsenal performances so far this season and he doesn’t seemed impressed.
The North London club started the season in a great fashion and have been unbeaten since the opening day of the season in all competitions, until their loss to Southampton in EFL Cup during the midweek.
The Gunners have been sluggish over the past month or so, as they let off a chance to confirm top spot in their Champions League group after a 2-2 draw against PSG at the Emirates.
Wenger’s team have also lost steam in the Premier League after consecutive draws against Manchester United and Tottenham, leaving them in 4th place three points behind the leaders.
When queried about Wenger and Arsenal’s performances this season, the former Premier League star feels the Gunners haven’t really improved, as they are still in fourth place and are likely to again face a big team in round of 16 in UCL. Speaking to Sky Sports, he said:
I can only give Wenger a C. The reason I say that is the least you expect from Arsenal is to be fourth and not win their Champions League group.
They’re fourth now and will probably pull Barcelona out of the final 16 draw so it’s same old from them.
It’s all just a bit average from Arsenal, nothing particularity bad but nothing their fans can really get excited about.
November was not a successful month by any stretch of imagination, even if it brought more points than previous years. More worryingly than the results, though, is the state of their performances, as not one of those games can be considered a good display.
The wins against Bournemouth and Ludogorets were hard earned, but against far inferior opposition, and the draws against Spurs, Untied and PSG were all amid games in which the North London side were dominated.
The team do look improved this season, but the psychological barrier still seems to be haunting the Emirates club and although nothing is out of reach yet, but silverware is looking far with each passing game.
With the stacked festive period looming, the team must improve and improve quickly with the busy festive period on the horizon.
