As per reports coming from Belgium, Arsenal are closer than ever to seal a transfer move for Albert Sambi Lokonga.
The Anderlecht midfielder emerged as a target for the Gunners with few reports claiming that the youngster has agreed on personal terms with the club. The 21-year-old has impressed playing centrally and is considered to be one of Belgium’s most promising talents.
According to a report from La Derniere Heure, the midfielder is ‘closer than ever’ to sign for the north Londoners. The Belgian club will be leaving for the Netherlands, but it is unlikely that Lokonga will travel with the team. They also state that if everything goes well, he will sign with Arsenal later this week.
This was confirmed by another publication, with Walfoot claiming that a deal is imminent and the player is waiting to travel to London. On the other hand, Het Belang van Limburg report that Anderlecht will have a different-looking midfield for next season. This is due to the fact that their young star will join the Emirates club with only a few details left to be sorted out.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano also provided an update as he tweeted:
“Arsenal are still working on final details to sign Albert Sambi Lokonga. Personal terms agreed, €17.5m + €4.5m add ons offered but future sale percentage to be discussed.”

Arsenal Fever View
The signing of the Belgian midfielder is important for the Gunners as it gives them a player who is similar to Thomas Partey. Last season, there was no one in the team who could replicate what the Ghanaian did.
But in Lokonga, they have found a younger talent with a style that is very similar to the former Atletico Madrid midfielder. The opportunity to learn under Partey will surely help develop the Anderlecht player into a more rounded player.
And this transfer also represents some intelligent planning and foresight on the part of the Gunners. By going after a young and exciting talent, they are securing the club’s future.
Also, if by some chance this move does not work out, the midfielder can be sold for a profit. Arsenal are getting started in the transfer window and that is good news for the fans. Bringing in players like Lokonga bodes well for next season.
