Arsenal could reportedly face double competition to keep hold of Hector Bellerin with Real Madrid having joined Barcelona in the pursuit of the highly-rated right-back.
Bellerin, 22, has not had the best of seasons in the Gunners shirt this term, but he is still regarded as one of the promising talents on the right side of the defence.
The former La Masia student has been linked with a potential move to Barcelona for a while, and this speculation has been heightened in recent weeks with Arsene Wenger favouring Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain at right wing-back in the new 3-4-2-1 formation.
According to Spanish outlet Don Balon, the European champions are likely to step up their interest in the Spain international with club president Florentino Perez looking to strengthen the right-sided options.
Danilo, 25, has not quite managed to compete with Daniel Carvajal for the right-back spot, and Los Blancos would be willing to offer the Brazilian as part of a proposed deal for Bellerin this summer.
Bellerin who is rated at around £35m, inked a fresh six-and-a-year-deal with the north London giants earlier in the year, and this puts the Gunners in a strong position to keep hold of the player unless he places a transfer request on the table.
Former club Barcelona have monitored Bellerin on a couple of occasions this season, and they will probably hold the edge, should the Spaniard decide to make way from the Emirates in the summer.
Bellerin has previously admitted that he owes a lot to manager Arsene Wenger for his development, and his stay could be dependent on what the Frenchman decides to do at the end of the season.
Wenger currently has a two-year contract offer on the table which he is being tipped to sign regardless of the club’s finish in the Premier League standings.
Arsenal face a must-win game against Manchester United on Sunday afternoon if they are to maintain their record of achieving a top-four spot in every season under Wenger.
