Arsenal ended the season on a high as they comfortably got past a lackluster Chelsea side last night to claim their third FA Cup title in four years.
The Gunners opened the scoring in the fifth minute as Alexis Sanchez slotted home with a cool finish in controversial circumstances, to give the Emirates outfit a well deserved lead.
Chelsea were reduced to 10-men midway through the second half as Victor Moses was sent off for simulation, but the Stamford Bridge side did find the equaliser with 15 minutes to go by virtue of a deflected shot from Diego Costa.
However, Ramsey headed home the winner just minutes later from a Giroud cross to give the Gunners their 13th FA Cup title.
Here are the ratings:
Ospina 7.5 | Looked a bit tense in the first half and should have stopped Costa’s equaliser, but redeemed himself with two good saves later.
Holding 8 | One of the most exciting Arsenal youngsters around. Really proved his worth with a classy defensive performance. Should have done better on the first goal, but will improve with game time.
Mertesacker 10 | No point in rating. Deserved the MOTM, as he hardly put a foot wrong throughout the game and always kept Costa in check. Unbelievable performance for a player starting a game after one year. Class act.
Monreal 9 | Wonderful performance alongside Mertesacker and has really excelled in this new formation. Put in some important tackles in the second half.
Bellerin 8 | His pace is just unreal. Gives another dimension to the Gunners attack but his defensive contributions are really a surprise.
Xhaka 8 | Was bossing the midfield throughout the game and his attacking game was also on the mark. Finally proving his worth.
Ramsey 8.5 | Has been really impressive over the past few weeks and once again proved his worth. Scored the all-important winner but was troubling the Blues defence every now and then.
Oxlade-Chamberlain 7.5 | He is new to the wing-back role but held his own both in attack and defence.
Sanchez 8.5 | His never say die attitude was at the fore right from the start and his energy in the first half really pushed Chelsea on to the back foot. Cool finish for the first goal.
Ozil 8 | Was Excellent today and should have scored but was unlucky. Created plenty of opportunities and once again proved why he is a world-class player.
Welbeck 8 | One of the unsung heroes. Didn’t score a goal but created some wonderful chances and stretched Chelsea’s defence to the limit on many occasions.
Subs:
Giroud 7 | Was our Super Sub. Impressive chip to set up Ramsey’s winner.
Coquelin 5 | Didn’t have much to do.
