The transfer window is fast becoming an annual farce, with players being sold for sums resembling telephone numbers.
Who can ignore Kyle Walker’s transfer to Manchester City for £45 million plus add-ons?
I scratched my head for a week and questioned whether Pep Guardiola had taken a knock to the head that’s how ridiculous the market has become.
The transfer window is a tense time in which a potential, high profile rival, could easily place a counter bid at any time and scupper a deal.
Arsenal are currently locked in bruising negotiations with Dortmund for Pierre- Emerick Aubameyang but at least they can rest easy now as they know that Sunderland have no intention of placing a bid for the Gabon striker.
Yes, the Championship side have made it clear they will not be bidding for the striker to calm the nerves of jittery Arsenal fans.
Arsenal’s developmental side were taking on Sunderland in and U-23 fixture and the North London club announced their line-up on Twitter tagging the Black Cats.
Desperate fans replied to the post by telling the club to “announce Aubameyang”, which prompted Sunderland to make their position crystal clear.
In a message sent from the club’s official site they stated:
“To the hundreds of Arsenal fans currently flooding our mentions due to today’s game, we can confirm we won’t be announcing Aubameyang.”

What a relief! At least Sunderland’s refusal to make a move makes perfect sense.
