Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has reiterated his commitment to the club while also revealing that he is desperate to bring the club back to the top.
There have been some rumors that he might be on his way out of the club but the 30-year-old forward has rubbished those claims.
Speaking on Arsenal’s matchday program ahead of the FA cup game against Leeds United, he said:
“I would also like to react to some of the rumours that are going around about me in the media. People like making up stories and they should focus on what’s happening on the pitch.
“They talk too much and it does my head in! I am the Arsenal captain. I love this club. I am committed to it and desperate to bring it back to the top, where it belongs.”
The statement is very reassuring to hear and shows that he is committed to the cause of the team. This might also have to do with the fact that there is a new manager in Mikel Arteta. The bond between the players and the manager seems to be much better on the evidence of the performances we have seen so far.
Aubameyang has been a huge success ever since he made a move to London in January of 2018. His goal scoring record shows how consistent he has been for the Gunners and the club would really be struggling without his goals.
For Arsenal to get back into the Champions League, it is necessary to keep hold of players such as the Gabonese forward. And Aubameyang’s “love” for the club will make fans happy in the knowledge that he might not be leaving so soon.
The North London club’s focus will now shift back to the Premier League on the back of an important FA Cup win against Leeds. Crystal Palace presents another opportunity for the club to show that they are back on track.
And if they are to do that, you can fully expect Aubameyang to have a part to play in it. He already has 15 goals this season and will be looking to add more to his tally.
