Arsenal have received a significant boost ahead of the Stoke City game with Alexandre Lacazette having returned to first-team training after a lengthy injury layoff.
The France international underwent a surgery for a swollen knee shortly after the north London derby on February 10, but he has since been on the sidelines recuperating from the condition.
In Lacazette’s absence, Arsenal found themselves short of strikers in the Europa League, where Danny Welbeck was the sole choice, and his arrival is likely to provide a much-needed lift ahead of the quarter-final stage.
Meanwhile, Aaron Ramsey also showed his presence in training after making a swift recovery from a minor procedure which saw him not included in Ryan Giggs’ Wales squad for the China Cup.
Aside from this, the likes of Jack Wilshere and Mesut Ozil have also rejoined the club after returning early from international duty with knocks, but they are expected to be fit for the Potters game, as per Evening Standard.
It is yet to be known whether the quartet will face Paul Lambert’s side this weekend, but manager Arsene Wenger will probably name a strong side in order to keep up the recent winning momentum.
With the top-four chances more or less over, winning the Europa League is unquestionably the best route to next season’s Champions League, and the priority could be placed more on the competition from here on.
Arsenal entertain CSKA Moscow in the first-leg of the Europa League quarter-final on Thursday night, and the game may witness Lacazette’s return to the starting lineup ahead of Danny Welbeck.
