Takuma Asano

Arsenal’s new signing Takuma Asano has officially met his future team-mates in a recent training session at the Gunners training ground.

The 21-year-old striker who joined from J1 League defending champions Sanfrecca Hiroshima was named Rookie of the Year in his club’s road to their fourth league title, bagging 14 goals in all competitions last season.

Here are the images of Asano meeting his Arsenal team-mates.

The youngster signed for the Gunners in July for a fee in the region of £5m, but because he lacks the necessary international caps he doesn’t qualify for a visa to play in England. He was very impressive during the Summer Olympics bagging two goals in three games.

The Japanese international has joined Stuttgart on loan for the season a few days back. Stuttgart are part of Germany’s second division and will hopefully be able to provide the youngster with a fantastic experience

Asano is only 5’6″ tall but has been reported to blitz through 50 meters in 5.9 seconds. This puts him in a class of superfast footballers including Theo Walcott and Hector Bellerin at the Emirates.

Arsene Wenger has been quoted making tall claims about how the Asano, who scored his first international goal against Bulgaria last month, “is definitely one for the future.” Asano is the third Japanese international to be signed by Wenger, but both his predecessors were widely considered flops after not doing enough to warrant a starting place.

Takuma, however, has his own qualities which are in their own right exceptional, and above your average reserve and/or young player talent. The Japanese forward is agile, short, and particularly intelligent while making runs between defensive lines.

At his age, he is a proved to be a composed finisher, regardless of the fact that composure in the premier league is a scarce good nowadays. We will be hoping his season in Germany will be enough for him to begin his North London adventure next season.
