A lot of Arsenal fans were quick to praise the performance of Mohamed Elneny after his tremendous showing in the win over Manchester United.
The North London club took all three points courtesy of a spot-kick from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at the hour mark. This ended a 14 year wait for a win at Old Trafford in the Premier League, with the last one coming back in 2006.
The defensive performance of the Emirates club was hugely impressive. A big part of that was possible due to the foundation laid in the midfield by Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny. The Egyptian’s endless stamina allowed him to hassle United throughout the game.
This was noticed by the Gunners fans who took to Twitter to show their admiration for the midfielderon. The way Elneny played allowed the visitors to control the game and also repel any danger that arose from United’s attack.
Have a look at some of the best reactions to his performance:
Mohamed Elneny. I have to say he was phenomenal today. Did the simple things so well. Followed instructions perfectly. I was surprised he was selected for this game, but he's more than justified it.

That was Mo Elneny’s best ever performance in an Arsenal shirt.

A quick word on Elneny: Arsenal's 'Egyptian Pirlo' has showed character to show he's a midfielder worthy of a starting place in Mikel Arteta's XI. He never moaned when out of the side, never griped, briefed or posted, simply worked hard to regain his place. That deserves respect

•Mohamed Elneny started just 5 PL games in 2018/19
•He was loaned to Besiktas last season & rediscovered his form
•Arteta gave him another chance & has been rewardedPlayed some excellent forward passes today and was key to implementing the high press behind Arsenal’s front 3 pic.twitter.com/eIHM7aSeCl

I’m hearing Mohamed Elneny is still running laps around his backyard, they call it Old Trafford.

Mo Elneny is the best role model for the young generation of Arsenal!! He's never been this ready! Such a great role model! I'm sure he played more forward passes than the opponent team! He does the simple things the right way and that makes him great!! @ElNennY pic.twitter.com/Y0j3yUydAf

The midfielder spent the last season on loan in Turkey, but has established himself in the Arsenal set up now. He started the Community Shield as well which goes on to show the trust Arteta has in him.
His partnership with Partey was key in dismantling the offensive threat that United possessed. With players such as Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba to deal with, it could have been difficult, but the duo’s mobility and technical quality ensured that this didn’t happen.
The way Elneny was able to move the ball forward also allowed the attack to flourish. What makes this performance even more remarkable is the fact that the Egyptian played the full 90 minutes against Dundalk in the Europa League on Thursday.
Getting the win at Old Trafford will be a huge moment in the context of the season. They want to get back into the Champions League and results such as this will send a message across to their competitors.
Arsenal will want to take this momentum into their next game against Molde where they will look to get their third consecutive victory in Europe. Aided by a strong result at the weekend, the Gunners will be looking to get the win and with players like Elneny in great form, that result becomes all the more likely.
