Arsene Wenger is likely to make a number of changes to his Arsenal side for Tuesday’s EFL Cup tie at Nottingham Forest, with defender Gabriel in contention to make his first appearance of the season alongside Mathieu Debuchy.
Arsenal have one of the easiest fixtures in this round of the League Cup. They will be hoping to stroll to an easy victory as they travel to Nottingham. Their 4-1 win over Hull at the weekend will give them a major confidence boost and they should be able to deal with their opponents in the League cup comfortably.
Nicklas Bendtner could make his first start for Nottingham Forest while former Gunners Armand Traore and Henri Lansbury could also face their old club with the latter being in tremendous form.
As for Arsenal’s team news, Arsene Wenger is expected to make a few changes for this week’s clash, offering more opportunities for the club’s youngsters to impress in the League Cup. Chris Willock, Jeff Reine-Adelaide and Chuba Akpom are among those pushing to be included in the matchday squad, while Kieran Gibbs, Emiliano Martinez and Rob Holding are also expected to feature. Arsenal’s forgotten man Mathieu Debuchy could also find a place in the starting line up ahead of first choice right back Hector Bellerin.
Arsenal have only lost to Forest twice in the last 27 years but the atmosphere is surely to be electric inside the sold-out City Ground ahead of this Cup clash and, having scored two or more goals in five of their previous six fixtures, It feels like Nottingham Forest will have sufficient firepower to cause problems for Arsenal.
Both sides will look to score goals in order to paper over their defensive cracks. It could turn out to be a high scoring game, and both teams will aim at playing in each other’s half.
Who do you think will win ? Will it be a day of redemption for Lord Bendtner, or will the Gunners triumph over a Forest side ready to pounce onto any Premier League coming their way?
