Arsenal youngster Gabriel Martinelli has told ESPN Brasil that he wants to stay at the Emirates club all his life.
The winger arrived in the summer of 2019 and has become one of the most dynamic players in north London. After a blistering start, the 20-year-old had some injury problems but has since returned to form.
Speaking about what he wants to do in the future, the Brazilian told ESPN Brasil:
“We always want more. Of course, Arsenal are a giant team. If I can, I’ll stay here my whole life. I want to conquer things, I already said, I want to stay here and win titles, with this wonderful crowd, my teammates. We have a young group, we have a lot of time ahead of us, players with a lot of quality, I think we will achieve great things.”
With the Gunners being in a good position to get back into the Champions League, Martinelli spoke about that as well, as he added:
“Our focus [today] is the Champions League. Fighting for that top four. A club like Arsenal has to be in the Champions League. It’s our total focus.”
Arsenal Fever View:
After a couple of disappointing seasons, the north Londoners have put themselves in a good position to get back into the top four. And it is in large part due to the performances of the young core at the club.
Martinelli along with the likes of Bukayo Saka, Emile Smith Rowe among others have brought some much-needed energy to the team. The upturn in the performances of the Gunners has brought about a change in the atmosphere around the Emirates. If Mikel Arteta can steer his players the same way till the end of the season, the future does look promising.
Arsenal scouting department deservers credit for bringing in Martinelli from the lower leagues of Brazil. It is the kind of signing that is going to have an impact for many years to come. With the north Londoners looking better and better, there is genuine hope and belief that this group of players are set for big things.
