The representative of Mesut Ozil has indicated that the German is clearly content with the proceedings at Arsenal and has no plans of parting ways with the north London side in the near future.
The former Germany international has gone through a tough phase since November where he has been regularly out of matchday squad, either due to fitness concerns or tactical reasons as mentioned by Unai Emery.
Due to this, there has recently been the gossip surrounding Ozil’s future with the Gunners but his agent Dr Erkut Sogut has clarified (Goal.com) that the midfielder remains 100 percent committed to the Capital outfit.
He added that Ozil is prepared to honour the remainder of his current contract at the least and the German is doing his best to adapt to the manager’s style of play despite a mixed first half to the season.
He said:
“Mesut is 100 per cent committed to Arsenal Football Club. He loves the club, shares its values and does not want to be anywhere else.
“He is proud to wear the shirt and honoured to represent Arsenal on and off the pitch. He takes his responsibilities – including being selected as one of the captains this season – very seriously and has a great relationship with his team-mates, the staff and fans.”
Sogut’s interview should calm any fears concerning Ozil’s future with the Gunners for the campaign but the midfielder still needs to work on his intensity without possession of the ball which has partly been the reason behind Emery recently ignoring him.
Meanwhile, Ozil is expected to be assessed ahead of the FA Cup third round tie at Blackpool this weekend but the chances are high that the German won’t be risked for the trip with key London derbies against West Ham United and Chelsea ahead.
Arsenal are currently occupying the fifth position in the standings with 41 points, three behind fourth-placed Chelsea, who dropped points during the recent midweek encounter against Southampton at the Bridge.
