Arsenal are all set to complete the loan signing of Dani Ceballos from Real Madrid and will announce the deal in the next few hours, according to reports in Spanish publication AS.
The report states that the midfielder is due to arrive at London Colney to complete his medical and eventually sign the deal.
The 22-year-old will join the Gunners on a one-year loan deal and will return to the Spanish capital next summer, as there is no buy-back clause included in the deal. The midfielder will become a Gunner barring any last-minute U-turn.
Mirror are also reporting that in order to accelerate the transfer and finalize all the remaining details, Head of Football Raul Sanllehi flew back from the USA to London to get the ball rolling on the Ceballos transfer as well as try and complete a deal for Scottish defender Kieran Tierney.
The North London club have chosen the Spaniard to replace Aaron Ramsey who left for Juventus on a free transfer. Given the fact that Arsenal have a limited budget this summer, the loan signing will not have an impact on the club’s finances.
Ceballos moved to Real Madrid from Real Betis in the summer of 2017 but his time has not gone the way the midfielder would have wanted it to. Despite his talent, he has not been able to hold down a regular place in the Real midfield and due to that, he is looking at playing elsewhere.
This is where Arsenal and manager Unai Emery have been able to convince Ceballos with the promise of first-team football that the midfielder is really after. He will complement the central midfielders that are already at the club. His versatility allows him to play well in a 2-man or a 3-man midfield depending on what Emery wants him to do.
Bringing Ceballos to the Emirates is a good deal for everyone involved as it gives the Gunners a talented midfielder without paying a fee. Real Madrid are able to keep hold of someone they can use in the future.
And finally for the player himself, it is a chance to show the world what he has and the Premier League is as good a stage as any to do this. Fans should be happy that Arsenal have been able to get hold of the Spaniard and all that is left for the announcement to be made.
