Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira appears to be on his way out of the club this summer as per reports in Il Tempo(via Lazio Press).
The Uruguayan found chances to be limited and was sent out on loan to Atletico Madrid last season. He was in and out of the Madrid team and couldn’t establish himself on a permanent basis.
According to Italian publication Il Tempo, the 25-year-old is close to sealing a move to Lazio. The Gunners are asking for €20m but the Rome club are proposing a different package to be paid in two installments.
Lazio would be willing to pay only €15m and they have offered the player a bonus of €3m per year. These figures are slightly different from what another Italian publication, Corriere Dello Sport has to say.
As per their report, the Italian club wants to take the midfielder on a loan worth €5m with an obligation for an extra €15m. As per both reports, the parties are ‘very close’ to an agreement. They also state that the player has agreed personal terms with Lazio.
Arsenal Fever View:
Based on reports we have been seeing for some time, it is clear that the Uruguayan wants a move away from north London, and with Lazio’s offer that might be happening soon.
There doesn’t seem to be any way back for the midfielder and if the Gunners can get a decent fee, now would be a good time to sell. And perhaps this move would benefit Torreira as well, as the former Sampdoria player is returning to a league that he is familiar with.
It is time for the north Londoners to look in a new direction with regards to their midfield. With a move for Albert Lokonga getting closer, we could see the squad getting upgraded, helped by the potential sale to Lazio. Lucas Torreira is a signing that did not work out as well as Arsenal would have hoped for. But with a chance to sell the player, they should take it and focus on other targets.
