Lucas Perez has revealed that he is happy at Arsenal and is ready to wait for first-team opportunities to come his way, as per the Sun.
This is what he had to say:
“Arsenal are a big club and the competition for places is strong. Everyone wants to play and that is normal.”
“Today[on Monday] I am happy because I played and scored a goal but now I need to continue like this to convince the boss to trust me more.”
“After I scored a hat-trick in the Champions League against Basel the boss didn’t count on me, but that means some team-mates are very good.”
“The team has now had a losing streak of three or four games so I have to wait for my moment and make the most of the opportunity when it arrives.”
The Spaniard is one of the very few Arsenal players who still genuinely excite me as a fan when he gets the nod.
He has managed to notch 7 goals and 5 assists in 9 appearances for the Gunners since his arrival from Deportivo La’Coruna however, the question on everyone’s lip is “why isn’t he starting regularly? “.
Ever since his debut against Southampton at the Emirates, there have been requests for his inclusion in the starting line-up, especially in big games. There is a certain kind confidence and drive he brings to the squad with a bullet of a left leg for shots with precision and an eye for intricate passes and final balls.
His versatility in the attack is an asset that leaves the fans perplexed with Arsene Wenger’s selections so far for crucial games. A player hungry for success like Alexis Sanchez and willing to retrieve lost causes at any part of the pitch.
As evident in the last Arsenal outing at Gander Green Lane, he can be seen not only chasing but retrieving the ball when his pocket was picked. Finally, there’s a large cry for him to start games according to reports on espnfc.co.uk.
As the news of his alleged state of mind and later the denial by his agent broke, my initial disgust at management and then relief is not easy to represent in words. I hope Arsene Wenger opens the proverbial door to Lucas.
Despite The Boss admitting to the fact, I sense a kind of reluctance in his tone to come through and field this asset of a player. In other news, our FA cup date with Lincoln City at the Emirates has been fixed and the schedule follows thus;
Venue: Emirates stadium, Time: 18:30 GMT+1, Date: Saturday 11th March 2017.
As a result, our fixture against Leicester City has been rescheduled for an unknown date.
This is the most realistic trophy we can pick up this season. I hope the Boss and Lads make it a priority and bring the cup home at the end of the season.
As for the rest of the season, it is my firm believe that it is not over until the “fat lady sings”.
Stay true! COYG!!!!
