Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck has resumed training and is targeting a comeback before the end of the month, according to reports in Telegraph.
The Englishman has been out since May with a serious knee injury but, the striker could return to full training within the next few weeks.
The 26-year-old, who scored five goals in 16 appearances last season, will be determined to make a major impact upon his return to action.
Sanchez has produced some impressive performances for the Gunners up front this season, but the Emirates club will benefit from having Welbeck back available.
Speaking after last night’s disappointing 2-0 defeat to Southampton in the EFL Cup, Wenger told reporters that Welbeck is close to a first-team return. As per Express, the French boss said:
He is not far.
Welbeck has had his struggles playing up frontwith Arsenal, but there are certain talents he has that are undeniable, and those things will be incredibly welcomed when he does return.
The Englishman didn’t get the chance to show his true finishing ability, at least not at the Emirates, but we know he knows how to find the back of the net. His work rate has always been excellent and the man is a stallion, busting up and down the flank in every way possible.
The striker can also serve a great purpose in the Gunners attack and it will also mean that the North London club can have three strikers on the pitch at once. With Welbeck, Alexis and Giroud all on the field at once, will give any opposing clubs shivers.
He also has the aerial ability to be a threat from the set pieces and corners. His combination of size and speed can cause defenses so much trouble in every facet of the game and his return certainly spells good times ahead for this Arsenal attack.
