Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has expressed his delighted after Eddie Nketiah bagged his maiden Premier League goal for the north London side.
Gunners boss Unai Emery rotated the side significantly for the final game of the league campaign, but the players nonetheless produced a strong showing to end their recent winless streak.
One of the top performers was Aubameyang, who shared the Golden Boot accolade with a brace in the 3-1 triumph but Nketiah also caught the eye with a late goal after coming off the bench.
Speaking after the game, the Gabon international was pleased for the youngster, who managed to secure his first-ever goal in the English top-flight.
“Yeah, of course. That’s good for the club, when you have young players coming into the first team and scoring. Eddie always works hard for the team, so I’m happy for him,” he told the club’s official website.
Nketiah was fancied to get some gametime in the Cup and European competitions this season with third-choice frontman Danny Welbeck ruled out with an ankle injury prior to the festive period.
However, that was not the case for the club graduate with just three starts across all competitions but they are positive signs that he could improve on this statistic during his second season under Emery.
Meanwhile, Aubameyang has been in red-hot form over the past few weeks and his strikes against the Clarets were his sixth and seventh respectively in the past four matches across all competitions.
Alongside the 29-year-old, Lacazette has likewise come to the party with regular goals of late and the duo should prove key in the Europa League final this month which the club must win to secure Champions League football next term.
