Arsenal legend Ian Wright has advised manager Unai Emery to stick with the same attacking combination which started during the 1-1 Premier League draw against Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday.
Gunners boss Unai Emery opted to start Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette, Mesut Ozil and Henrikh Mkhitaryan together for only the second time this season at the weekend and Wright believes Emery should stick with the quartet on a regular basis next term.
Speaking on his official Youtube channel, the former Arsenal star said that the club have sufficient creativity in the presence of the quartet and they may not necessarily require spending in the attack front.
He said: “Today was the second time in the season we played Auba, Laca, Mkhitaryan and Ozil. I think the last time we did it was against Liverpool. If you’ve got that kind of firepower, the more you can get them into the team and on the pitch, obviously the better.”
He added that the focus should rather lie on the defensive scheme of things where the north London side have looked vulnerable and conceded 50 goals for the second-straight Premier League campaign.
He added: “Then you’ve got to do something in respects of the defensive side of the team to make sure those four guys can operate because if you’re telling me those four aren’t going to cause problems, then we really are in a bad place.”
Arsenal have been heavily reliant on Aubameyang and Lacazette for their performances across all competitions and the duo have contributed a combined tally of 60 goals and assists during the ongoing campaign.
In comparison, Ozil and Mkhitaryan have struggled for consistency in terms of contributing to the scoresheet, and the latter has generally come for criticism from the fans due to his ineffectiveness in the final third of the pitch.
Arsenal are said to have a limited budget of just £45m to spend on new recruits this summer and it remains to be seen whether Mkhitaryan will stay put with the club, should Emery decide to offload a few existing players to bolster the transfer kitty.
